The use of peritoneal dialysis for premature babies. Case report

Rezumat: Acute kidney injury is a common pathology encountered in neonatal intensive care units affecting 1-24% of the newborns. It is defined as the incapacity of the kidney to maintain the homeostasis of water and electrolytes secondary to acute deterioration of the glomerular filtration rate resulting in high levels of blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine. Peritoneal dialysis is the method most used in treating severe acute kidney injury at this age.
